Born on March 28, 1986 in New York City, Stefani Joanne Germanotta is now an international superstar. When she was only 19 years old, Germanotta signed with Def Jam Recordings. After only three months, she was dropped from Def Jam yet continued to perform in the rock scene around the Lower East Side of New York City.
Taking a cue from the Queen song “Radio Ga Ga,” Germanotta changed her name to Lady Gaga and reinvented herself to become one of the most well-known personalities in the world. In 2007, Gaga signed with Streamline Records, an imprint of Interscope Records. While she wrote her own songs, it was her voice that caught the attention of Akon. Akon eventually signed Gaga to his label Kon Live Distribution.
On that label, she released her first album entitled The Fame in August of 2008. The album received many positive reviews and went number one in four different countries. In the United States, the album topped the Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart. The first two singles that Gaga released from The Fame became international hits and “Just Dance,” her first single was nominated for a Grammy for best dance recording. After success with opening for musical acts New Kids on the Block and the Pussycat Dolls, Gaga finally embarked on her first headlining tour in 2009. In 2011, Gaga released her followup album “Born This Way.”
Seemingly obsessed with constantly evolving in her music and her look, Lady Gaga never stays the same for very long. She has worn her hair in numerous ways, most notably in a blonde bob with a large hair bow made of blonde hair.
Gaga has also worn her hair long and blonde with yellow pieces and in a black and white bob. Gaga's constant reinvention makes her a popular style icon.
Hair Extension Geek thinks Gaga is the patron saint for all things hair extensions and wigs.
