Hair Extensions, Beauty Bloggers and Fashion Week? Yes, PLEASE!
My favorite show for New York Fashion Week Fall 2012 was Polyvore Live. It combined all of my favorite things; Hair Extensions, Beauty Bloggers, Hairdressers and Fashion.
What is Polyvore?
Polyvore is the web's largest community of tastemakers where people can discover their style and set trends around the world. Trendseekers and shoppers alike come to Polyvore to discover the hottest brands, products, trends and looks.
I took a minute to play around with the site and I gotta say it is pretty neat. Once you sign up for an account you can find your fave outfits and accessories and pull the pics over to create your “sets”. Think of the beauty mags and how they do fashion and beauty line ups. Polyvore allows you to become your very own beauty editor.

Polyvore Live and Covergirl teamed up to bring fashion and beauty bloggers together in a unique format for New York Fashion Week. The idea was to showcase the fashion of some very talented up and coming designers.
Instead of using models, members of the Stylelist Blogger network were recruited to rock the looks themselves down the runway.
Celebrity and Lead Stylist, Sarah Potempa, invited team easihair to sponsor the hair extensions for the show. When she told us that Polyvore would be using beauty bloggers as models I was more than a little impressed.
I was super excited to meet some of my fellow people. I was a little star struck to tell you the truth. These bloggers were qualified in many ways. Their blogs had to be pretty legit to receive an offer like this.
I had soo many questions. I tried as tactfully as possible to go around and chat with most of the bloggers. It was a neat experience to have the access that I did. After all, I am part hairdresser, videographer, photographer and blogger.
It was a unique transformation from beautiful everyday girl to NYFW runway model. Sarah Potempa came up with two distinct looks. The first was a fishtail braid updo and the second was a long wavy look made to bounce down the runway.
We had to use lots of easilengths hair extensions to achieve the desired looks. Rebecca, www.theclothes.blogspot.com, was the biggest transformation. She had a pixie cut and Sarah wanted it to be long enough to go into a braid and then into an updo.
We attached easilengths to the base of her hair and then used them to anchor in some loose braiding extensions. The look took several hours but I think it turned out beautifully. Check out more pics on my post on easihair's blog.
A couple other notable looks:
Erin Perez from www.calivintage.com. From short to long!
Amy Levin from www.collegefashionista.com. Long beautiful ombre color. Amy feel in love with the easilengths tape extensions.
Dylana Suarez from www.colormenana.blogspot.com. She needed her hair to be longer in order to get her locks into the fishtail braid updo.
We got to use Sarah Potempa’s new beach waver curling iron on the blogger models. I gotta say that it was a fantastic tool. Just put your hair in the clip, hit a button and presto chango your hair is gently rolled up into the iron. This creates the beautiful “beach wave” you see regularly on the runway.
The show was a huge success. It was well received and most importantly everyone had a great time.
