Sex and Hair Extensions | How to Handle an Intimate Moment with Style

Your hair extensions have worked their magic. 

You’ve been dating for a while now, he’s funny, he’s smart, he likes musical theatre. So you think he’s the one.... On this eve of the most perfect date so far your mind is on the looming promise of intimacy. You’ve worn your favorite seductive dress, your toes and nails are perfectly polished, your legs (and other areas) are shaved, everything is set for that special moment you've been waiting for.

So there is just one question left....WHAT ABOUT MY WEAVE???!!!

What to do when your faced with the dilemma of having sexual relations with hair extensions.....do you tell him? Will he know? What if he feels them? What’s a girl to do??

For the sake of professional advice I am going to treat sexual activity like any other activity involving friction, sweat, and possible hair pulling.

My most sound advice is to pull your hair into a low bun or loose braid. The activity of sex can cause hair to rub against a surface causing friction and tangles that will be almost impossible to remove. In order to avoid the embarrassing explanation of why there is a new birds nest taking refuge in your hair, pull it back and out of the way.

If he’s into hair pulling: Gently guide his hands elsewhere. While having your hair pulled may feel good in the heat of the moment, having a handful of hair come out will certainly kill the mood. No matter how permanent or solid your attachment may be, just don't risk it in this department. You may end up with breakage, premature slipping, or worse; a story for him to tell his buddies about the time he ripped a girls weave out.

A word on clip in extensions: If you are wearing clip in extensions may I suggest refraining from sexual activity while they are in, or plan on staying on top the entire time.

Clip in extensions are not meant for rigorous activity. Most people I know are able to remove the clip ins and pull their hair up while their man is elsewhere without a mention at all ( a great way to do this is to excuse yourself to the bathroom, change your hair and change into something slinky, I promise his eyes won’t even stray toward your hair) . If this is your plan remember to carry a ponytail holder and a few bobby pins in your  purse or pocket and have a safe place to stow the hair, one which you’ll remember!  

What he is thinking: I tell my clients all the time that men just really won’t know. Believe me when I say that a man has absolutely no clue the extremes we women go through to look our best. Even if a man feels your extensions, the last thing he thinks he is feeling is hair extensions.

Most men think they are simply feeling a bobby pin or barrette. If you need additional reassurance I asked a man who has sex with a woman with hair extensions frequently his take on the situation (I promise this is a word for word conversation)

Me: What do you think about having sex with a woman with hair extensions?
Man: What do you mean?
Me: Well do you see them? Do you feel them?
Man: I just see hair. Honestly the last thing Im thinking about is hair, I’m watching that booty shake.

So there you have it. The simple mind of a male.

Ladies: Do what you can to protect your hair by pulling it back, and don’t worry about anything else. Don’t worry about what he’s thinking ( cause he’s not thinking). And try to enjoy the moment for what it is, don’t let your hair take center stage to a more important event.
